Yesterday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions ordered the Justice Department to review all police reform agreements. In a memo, Sessions asked officials to see if law enforcement programs align with the Trump administration’s goal to promote officer safety and reduce violent crime. Officials will conduct sweeping reviews on pacts between the department’s Civil Rights Division, and thousands of police departments. The memo came as lawyers for the Justice Department asked for a 90 day delay in a consent decree on Baltimore’s Police Department. Mayor Catherine Pugh released a statement saying that the city strongly apposes any delay in moving forward.
