More than 16,000 young people have applied to work through the YouthWorks program this year so far in Baltimore City. The city says that's a 40 percent increase from two years ago.

Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh's spokesman stepped down on the same day he was publicly introduced. Former city police officer Darryl Strange was still in the process of being vetted when questions arose about lawsuits stemming from his five-years with the Police Department.


Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh delivered here "State of the City" address Monday afternoon. Although not said outright, it appeared the state of Baltimore City is a work in progress or to be continued.  


An independent audit of the city schools' transportation department is now complete. The audit claims a lack of leadership and oversight led to an accumulation of errors resulting in a 2016 school bus crash that killed six people in West Baltimore.

The Baltimore City Fire Department says a call came in just after 10:30 Friday morning, and the firefighters responded to the 2900 block of Barclay Street for a car crashing into the side of Barclay Elementary School.
