The CEO and founder of Baltimore-based Under Armour, is stepping down from President Trump's manufacturing council.
In a statement, Kevin Plank said his athletic gear company "engages in innovation and sports, not politics." He said he will continue "inspiring and uniting through power of sport, which promotes unity, diversity and inclusion." Earlier, Merck CEO Kenneth Frazier resigned from the same panel after Trump failed to condemn white nationalists after violence against counter-protesters in Virginia left one dead this weekend. Frazier said he was taking a stand against "intolerance and extremism."
Intel's CEO is the third member of the council to step down amid the fallout from the President's reaction to the recent violence in Virginia. Brian Krzanich said he resigned from the panel "to call attention to the serious harm our divided political climate is causing to critical issues." The tech giant's chief said he already made it clear that he rejected the violence surrounding a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. He added that he resigned to make progress, while some in the nation's capital are "more concerned with attacking anyone who disagrees with them."
