Baltimore police are investigating an early morning shooting that shut down a section of York Road in both directions during the morning rush.

Northern District officers were called to York Road between Rossiter and Winston Avenues, where they found a 23-year-old man who had been shot in the chest while riding his bicycle.  Preliminary investigation revealed that the victim was riding his bike in the 5000 block of York Road when he was approached by an unidentified suspect who shot him. The victim was taken to the hospital for surgery, but because of the seriousness of his condition, homicide detectives have been notified.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Baltimore police at  410-396-2100 or  Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7lockup.
