News Wrap: Maryland's Cold Snap, Budget Woes

Deep Freeze

Maryland will be in a deep freeze for at least the next couple of days. High temperatures today and tomorrow will be no warmer than the mid 20s with gusty winds making it feel even colder. Tonight's low is expected to be around 11 degrees in the immediate Baltimore area with single digits north and west of the city. 

Last Ditch-Effort to Balance State Budget

Outgoing Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley reportedly will propose to cut $400 million dollars in an effort to balance the state's budget. The Baltimore Sun quotes sources as saying O'Malley will unveil his plan and likely have it approved at today's Board of Public Works meeting. The cuts only affect the current budget year, which ends June 30. 

Ravens Cheerleader To Appear In Court On Sex Charges 

The former Baltimore Ravens cheerleader who is accused of sexual misconduct with a teenage boy is due in a Delaware courtroom today. Molly Shattuck, 47, the ex-wife of Constellation Energy CEO Mayo Shattuck, has pleaded not guilty. She is accused of buying alcohol for a teenage boy and having sex with him at a Bethany Beach vacation home over Labor Day. 

Ravens' Suggs Stunned By Brady's Praise 

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady shocked Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs with compliments in a recent press conference. Brady called Suggs "phenomenal" despite their well-documented bad blood over the years. "T-Sizzle" was puzzled by the kind words, and responded with, "Say what?" Suggs says he would be interested to see the video of the moment.
