MTA: Person fatally struck by train in Bowie, PENN Line service suspended

Apr 24, 2018

On Twitter, around 9:30 a.m., MTA Maryland said that   service “is suspended due to an Amtrak train striking a trespasser.” The incident occurred near Bowie State University.

Officials say MARC Service MARC 412 will be allowed to proceed past Bowie State on the opposite tracks. There’s no word on the identity of the decedent, nor an estimate of how long the disruption will be. MTA Washington Metrorail will honor MARC tickets due to the service disruption on the PENN Line. Commuters are encouraged to find alternative transportation options due to the potential length of the delay.  Please show your MARC ticket to the Metrorail Station Manager, and he or she will permit you to enter through the gate next to the information kiosk.  Please note that Metro parking charges, however, are not included and must be paid upon exiting the parking lot.  Reimbursement is not provided.
