From The Washington Post: Rep. Cummings Says He’s Not Close to Announcing on Possible Senate Bid
"Rep. Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.) will not announce whether he is running for Senate until after Hillary Rodham Clinton testifies before a House panel about the Benghazi attacks.
"In an interview Monday, the ranking Democrat on the House Select Committee on Benghazi said he wanted to 'get this behind me' before making a public decision.
"Cummings said he wanted to avoid any accusations that he was using the controversial committee to further his own political ambitions.
'That’s one of the main reasons I have not put out a decision,' he said. 'I’m going to get this behind me and then I’m going to go from there.'
"Clinton is scheduled to testify before the panel Oct. 22."
From The AFRO American: Poll: 51 Percent of Marylanders Say Races Receive Unequal Treatment by Police
"A new poll says less than half of Maryland residents agree that people of all races receive equal treatment by the police in their communities.
"The poll released Monday by Goucher College asked residents questions relating to policing in their communities and the Freddie Gray case in Baltimore.
"The poll found 27 percent of Black residents who responded agreed that people of all races receive equal police treatment. That compares to 60 percent of White respondents.
"The poll also found that 82 percent say they are paying 'some' or 'a lot' of attention to the case, while 17 percent say they are paying 'no' or 'a little' attention to it.
"The survey conducted last week has a 3.9 percentage-point margin of error. It polled 636 residents."
