WEAA's Julius White has the local news.

The son of Henrietta Lacks is seeking compensation for the unauthorized use of his mother’s cells in scientific research. The Lacks family plans to file a lawsuit in coming weeks. Johns Hopkins officials say that no established consent practice or regulations on cell research existed when cells were taken. The Maryland General assembly is poised to empower Maryland's democratic attorney general, Brian Frosh, to be able to sue the federal government without permission from republican governor Larry Hogan. The house of delegates is expected to make the final vote today on the joint resolution, which has already been approved by senate.
