WEAA offers an exquisite mixture of music programming, with a focus on artists, not labels. Our music is rooted in mainstream and contemporary jazz and is complimented by gospel, blues, reggae, world music, and hip-hop and even house music.

Legendary Jazz Host Bob Parlocha Dies

Bob Parlocha, host of Jazz After Hours, which airs on WEAA on Monday-Friday from 2 a.m.-6 a.m., passed away on Sunday, March 15, after suffering a heart attack. He had been rehabilitating from an extended illness over the past year.

Parlocha had been host of the WFMT Radio Network’s Jazz Network since its inception in 1995. In addition to hosting the Jazz Network, which was broadcast on scores of stations throughout the United States, Parlocha was a tenor and soprano saxophone player, host of the Dinner Jazz Show on KJAZ, and later the station’s music director. He was also a passionate gourmet cook.

Jazz Network officials have announced plans to introduce additional hosts and new voices to Jazz After Hours in the coming months. In the meantime, the show will air archived editions featuring Bob Parlocha.
