First Edition host Sean Yoes revisits the tragic death of Kalief Browder, who spent more than 1,100 days at the infamous Rikers Island in New York for allegedly stealing a backpack. Browder was incarcerated for that length of time because he was too poor to make bail. Yoes examines Browder’s case with Brittany Oliver, police accountability coordinator for the ACLU of Maryland. Then, Dayvon Love of Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle gives an update on the battle for bail reform in Maryland.
