Baltimore Cease Fire is underway with a goal of 72 hours without violence or homicides

Organizers say the cease fire initiative is a city-wide call, asking Baltimore residents to avoid having any murders from Friday, August 4th through Sunday, August 6th, 2017.

The hope is to Baltimore residents to celebrate life during the ceasefire in the manner they choose--- cookouts, neighborhood clean-ups, block parties or organized games, etc. On their Facebook, say you can plan with your neighbors, and tell everyone you know to do their part to give Baltimore this murder-free weekend. Organizer Erica Bridgeford says the goal is "Nobody kill anybody for 72 hours."

Bridgeford says "if anyone breaks the ceasefire, organizers are ready."  They have collected money to be donated to the victims' families, and participants will go to their neighborhood in a show of support.   More than 30 events are planned throughout the city this weekend.
